MULTICULTURAL JOURNAL
I developed this project in order to find students a way to reflect on what they are reading in the multicultural literature they are being exposed to. This is a great way for students to express themselves through writing and at the same time reflect and think about the literature they are reading. This allows them to develop critical thinking skills and the ability to relate to self or other classmates, which are two main goals of multicultural literature. The prompts will be written after we have completed a week's worth of reading. Each week will be a different prompt, each prompt will showcase a different part of the book that will aid in understanding the culture found in the group, in turn helping students to become more aware of the varying culture surroundings they are exposed to. They will be compiled at the end of the unit for students to write a reflective paper on what they learned and how they changed through reading about that particular culture.
